DEVELOPER TWEETS:
Character Related:
-Playing through as Deadpool is a must. His non sequiturs are hilarious.
-Deadpool: You unlock him by defeating him in battle. This happens in the first Act of the game.
-Gambit: He is playable after completing the first two missions, which is as close to the start as
you can get.
-Jean: Her TK power will allow her to pick up and launch enemies. We narrowed its focus to make it more useful in combat. This time out, you have to be closer to the object. The enemy’s position is
not a factor on how the TK works
-Juggernaut: I believe he will count towards the X-Men team bonus, but I haven’t verified this
-Spider-Man: Spider-Man will choose the side the player chooses. His story POV and upgrades will change with this choice.
-Penance: We hear Robbie as Speedball, but you can’t play as Speedball.
-Nightcrawler: On the panel, I said he was dead to tease the audience. You don’t have to have
saved Jean to unlock her.
-Jean’s fusions focus more on controlling physical objects around her.
-Most of the costumes were adapted from the Civil War series as drawn by Steven McNiven and a few pieces done by Adi Granov.
-I’m not sure when we’re allowed to talk about alternate costumes. I’m pretty sure there’s a plan to reveal them with screenshots
-Playable Jean: You have to unlock her.
-Blocking: Invisible Woman uses a forcefield. We tried to create unique blocks for everyone this time out
-DP. Ah… we’ve been calling it their portrait. It doesn’t change with costumes. We don’t have the
memory to store alt. DPs.
-Unlocking Heroes: Players can unlock Jean, Thor, and Hulk via hero artifacts.
-Reviewing heroes power names. We want the names to have personality and inform players what the
powers actually do. It’s a balancing act.
-"Some good ol’ fashioned combat testing today. Evaluating how responsive a heroes powers are, as
well as how they flow from one to the next”
-Changing Costumes: These can be changed in the pause menu.
-There’s no “versus” mode per se. You do fight other superheroes though.
-Pheonix: She has some Pheonix powers, but they must work in the game space. She can’t disintegrate the entire level.
-Sue Storm: I think we did a good job creating a unique playstyle for her.
-Jean. I’m not sure I follow the question now. She will have a TK Grip power for AI which can be upgraded. It’s pretty nice.
-Most Powerful Heroes. Jean is up there. We tried to make powerful heroes in the comics feel more powerful overall.
-Hero Artifacts. They are like the action figures in the last game. You collect a certain number, it unlocks Jean.
-Gambit. He is essentially a default character.
-Hey Jean fans, I made a new background for you.
See the new background at http://twitter.com/GMRJEN
-Just got done filming some behind the scenes footage. You’ll get to see our offices and the people who made the game, including lil ol me.
DLC:
-Fusion and DLC: Fusion makes creating DLC heroes more challenging and costly.
-Console Exclusives: I can only speak for 360 and PS3. They will have the same heroes on disc. DLC
is still in development.
-MUA2 Wii: VV did not work on MUA2 Wii, so I don’t know the DLC plans for it
-Versus Mode: It proved too challenging to do right in the time we had. Perhaps we’ll reconsider
it for DLC.
-DLC on both platforms PS3 and 360.
-Fans played a large part in picking DLC. Part of the process involved asking fans via surveys.
Can’t say more on who yet.
-Console exclusives. We didn’t choose 24 because of disc space. We chose it because of production reasons.
Random:
-"Reviewing the audio and music for choosing your side. We really want to make it feel both tense and exciting”
-People playing the game seem to really like it.
-Deffinetly a September release. UPDATE: Release date September 15,2009.
-"One problem this type of game always runs into is keeping track of your hero onscreen during
cooperative play.”
-"So right now, we may be adding a final touch that’ll alleviate this for coop. Needless to say,
I’m excited.”
-They are reviewing the hubs and bases in act 1.
-"Will be reviewing mini-boss resistances shortly. Antagonists need love too.”
- http://img197.yfrog.com/img197/2746/t00.jpg <--- This picture is really funny! its one of the
fusions that didnt make the cut
- “Tweet from yesterday: at gamestop trying to convince the manager to put the mua2 pop up at the
front of the store http://yfrog.com/5gcnxqj”
-Demo. I’m pretty sure we’re scheduled to release one. I don’t remember the exact date. I’ll
follow up.
-M’Kraan. Yes, they are scattered around the game like action figures.
- Progression Unlocks. There will be handful unlocked in this fashion. We wanted to make sure they were easy to unlock.
-Demo Date. Just asked publishing. We still don’t have a date locked down yet.
-Trivia. Trivia’s returning, and this time it’s co-op. I’m pretty happy with how trivia turned out.
-The PS3 will use some motion control, yes.
-GMRJEN is back!
-Just wrapped on filming video interviews with the team. I have no idea when they’ll be released, but they should be pretty cool.
