[The Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Downloadable Content was removed from the PlayStation Network prior to 12/31/09 due to scheduling and technical requirements. ~NL]
Even though I know no one will read this (because new posters NEVER read threads) this should probably be said by SOMEONE.
The DLC is gone because Activision decided not to renew the license to sell Marvel-based DLC and on January 1, 2010, it expired (the date is a guess by most people but it’s the one that makes the most sense). This means M:UA 1 and M:UA 2’s DLC will no longer be available for download.
M:UA 1 has the Gold Edition, this was made to get rid of some bugs in the game and to add on some extra content. Spider-Man and Wolverine’s content are still there due to Activision having their gaming licenses until 2017.
M:UA 2 never got the chance to get a “Gold Edition” because, currently, Activision cannot LEGALLY sell the extra content in any fashion.
Activision has been TRYING to get the license to resell content on a disc (or something, they don’t even know how they’ll get it to us) but Marvel Comics keeps stepping in and pretty much tells them “no” each time. This matter is no longer in their hands, which means Marvel Comics is now the company that people need to start talking to (yes, Disney also may have a hand in this because they now own Marvel).
Vicarious Visions had NO IDEA this would happen because one of the developers mentioned on Twitter that a lot of workers at VV were stunned when this happened and are now left without a way to play the content that they created.
Sony and Microsoft only did as they were told when Activision told them to remove it. They aren’t at fault for it either (except the DLC went missing from the PS3 first thanks to a mistake on Sony’s part… but the DLC was going to go anyway, it just left about a week early).
TL;DR: The DLC is gone due to a licensing issue, Activision is trying to get it back in some format, there will no longer be any more DLC for M:UA 2.
I’ll post the link mentioning the DLC lost when I find it again in my maze of browsing history.
Also please note that being a VIP on this site has nothing to do with the DLC
