Things I Learned from MUA2 and HeroHQ

Hey just letting you all know that I’m writing up an article/presentation on the things I learned while working on this community and MUA2 site.

And I learned a lot. I made good decisions, bad decisions, friends and enemies. Hopefully I wont repeat the same bad decisions this year.

To give you an example I now know never to use the word “soon” as it’s never soon enough :)

Another example is: giving banned people a second chance is a bad idea.
One more: people will cheat even if there is no incentive

Once it’s done I’ll post it up. It will be similar to this presentation I did in Dec about what I think will happen in 2010

http://www.slideshare.net/soapcreative/soaps-2010-predictions

I’d also like to know if you, as the users, have learned anything while on HeroHQ and the MUA2. Feel free to comment.

Sounds awesome, Dr.T smile

Two things that I’ve learned:

1. HeroHQ is a fantastic site, with a great community.

2. DOGGIES ARE BIGFOOT!

The "Report" and "Ignore" buttons are there for a reason! Mods can't see everything and you don't have to see posts by annoying members...
Same goes for the "Edit" button!

I learned that games built for Xbox/Playstation are not the same as wii. :(
But on a positive note I found that teaming up with fellow heroh-qers can have astonishing results. After a lot of e-mails, tweets and facebook posts we did eventually get our rep from N-Space, a little late but we did get it!

Vicarious Visions is a very open company with amazing community and transparency!
I need to save up for an Xbox or a Playstation to get the best MUA2 experience!

Thanks Dr T, for babysitting these forums through the good and bad. Thanks VV for all your answers and for creating an exciting build up.
No thanks go to N-Space, unfortunately.

Another example is: giving banned people a second chance is a bad idea. (AMEN!)
One more: people will cheat even if there is no incentive (YUP! Cheaters suck.)

I’m hitting my one year anniversary very soon. Here’s what I think I learned:

1. Managing expectations is hard (i.e. people want too much too quickly).
2. It’s better to under-promise than over-promise.
3. Some people will never be pleased, no matter what.

Here’s what I didn’t learn:

1. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
2. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck?
3. What is a Twinkie made of?

Thanks for the great site, Dr. T!

There’s a better way to get someone to stop being a jerk then yelling at them and writing them off.
Even when you have 80000+ members it doesn’t mean people post. raspberry
CWO Jocks have no Idea what is going on in the forums just like forum people don’t know what is going on in CWO ( may it rest in peace)
