Ok, time for some constructive criticism. I finished the game and I really liked it, a lot. Though I really believe you could’ve told a much better story if you would’ve stuck completely to the comics and not made this a Movie tie-in. We would’ve been spared boring boss characters such as Agent Zero and the abomination, by fans hatefully dubbed, Barakapool and adamantium bullets that cause amnesia. The Sentinel fight was amazing, especially when wearing one of those beautiful comic costumes, makes it really feel like a comic book moment come to life. I wish the entire game would’ve felt liked that.
Next, variety. This is a problem a lot of games suffer from. I love the combat in the game, you’ve done a great job with the movesets and all and really turned Wolverine into the unstoppable weapon, but it would’ve been great if you would’ve build in more gun turret sections or something similar, to mix the gameplay up a little bit. As fun as the game was, it got a little tiresome after slashing through several dozen waves of enemies. Those are one of the moments where you just want to sit back, relax and gun everything down. You should definitely have let the Wade Wilson section in where we get to sniper and back up Logan, would’ve been a good moment to take a breather from the constant slaughter.
Next time, maybe try to really use Wolverines military background, he can cause mayhem not just with his claws. You could also mix the gameplay up by adding moves like using a Soldier as a shield and using his gun to shoot others. Or have a quick kill moves where he grabs a soldier, pulls out the pin of one of his grenades, and throws the soldier back into another group of enemies. Half a dozen soldiers taken out right there.
Next, polish. I don’t think you had to rush, because I read often comments about how you had plenty of time and worked on it before the Movie was filmed, but there are quite a lot of unnecessary bugs and glitches, that just didn’t need to be there. Also some framerate issues and textures often take a couple seconds to load. Nothing game breaking so far, but they stick out. There are also minor things like hearing the sound from the last mission when the new one loads, still being in a combat animation when radio transmission starts and I can’t get out of it, getting a message that I cleared the last miession like a minute later, when I’m already on the next one, stuff like that. Again, not game breaking.
That’s all I can think of so far. Comics would’ve provided better story elements characters, break up the slashing with other gameplay sections for a little breather and just make sure to iron out the kinks the next time. Otherwise, a really entertaining game. Keep it up Raven.
